valvesmith โ€ข 13 yr. ago In the spirit of true Garage Rock you should just use what ever you can find lying around. Really at least one piece of your rig should have unknown origin or borrowed from someone. You can play stolen gear as long as you did not steal it. I believe those are the rules. Comes with on board Tremolo which is surprisingly good, Sounds really good clean - when paired up with a fuzz pedal, it sounds awesome - buzzy loud garage rock tone and with a big muff or more intense fuzz it sounds really cool.Works as it should, some rust on the chassis and metal protective cor.

1) take you guitar and amp into your garage. 2) Plug everything up and commence to play rock music. On a serious note, a good fuzz/distortion pedal should do it. Check into the Big Muff. EDIT.

The Contessa lives up to its name as sleeper amp royalty, with plenty of volume and clean headroom, excellent garage-rock tone, onboard tremolo and reverb, and quiet operation. Hohner Contessa CA200 About 10 years ago, I saw this Hohner amp in a music store in upstate New York and I was smitten. The swirly grill cloth. interesting.

Some examples of what I'm looking for would be like Reptilia or Juicebox from The Strokes or other similar 2000s garage rock bands, like the Black Keys, White Stripes, Franz Ferdinand, The Bravery, etc. That kinda post-punk revival thing.. High distortion and fuzz tone, simple stuff from the blues scale, 80-100 bpm.

The Early Sounds of Garage Rock

It's a mix of garage rock and post-punk, with a touch of new wave thrown in for good measure. Their songs are catchy and often have an anthemic quality to them.. The tone is still quite clean, but a touch of reverb added in is nice. For the distorted parts, use a fuzz or overdrive pedal. To get this sound, set your amp to: Gain: 4; Treble: 7;

3)Full low gain sound. I prefer to use overdrive as always on tone-shaper with slight crunch. So, I need to have ability to fine tune it and it should sound full on lower gain setting (I play with just drums and bass, so guitar needs to be full). 4)I prefer slightly raw gain structure.

3. Gretsch G2622T. Check Pricing on Amazon. A really cool and interesting guitar with a Bigsby bridge. Gretsch is one of the most popular manufacturers of hollow-body guitars. In fact, when garage rock started emerging in 1960's, a lot of guitarists back then played on hollow and semi-hollow models.
